Amanah is pronounced “ah-mah-nah” (أمانة). It is an Arabic word meaning trust and responsibility. It reminds us to honor the trust placed in us and carry out our responsibilities with honesty, care and integrity.
This meaning connects closely with first aid and CPR. When someone is injured or suddenly becomes unwell, they may be frightened, vulnerable or unable to speak for themselves. They rely on the person helping them to act with care, respect their dignity and provide assistance to the best of their ability. Being trusted to help someone in those moments is an Amanah.
That responsibility also belongs to us as trainers. Our learners trust us to teach clearly, support their learning and help them develop practical skills they can use when someone needs them.
Amanah First Aid Training brings these two responsibilities together: the trust involved in teaching others and the trust involved in caring for a person during an emergency.
Our tagline, “Trust and responsibility to care.”, reflects the meaning of Amanah and our purpose: helping learners build the skills and confidence to honor the trust placed in them when caring for someone in an emergency.
